DO YOU WONDER IF YOU’LL RUN OUT OF MONEY IN RETIREMENT?
IF YOUR MONEY IS INVESTED THE BEST WAY?
WHEN IS THE OPTIMAL TIME TO TAKE SOCIAL SECURITY?
WHAT SHOULD YOU DO WITH YOUR 401K WHEN YOU RETIRE?
WHAT IF YOU HAVE TO GO INTO A NURSING HOME?
DO YOU WANT SIMPLE ANSWERS TO ALL THESE COMPLEX QUESTIONS?
Well, if this sounds like you, then I have great news…
These are ALL answerable questions.
If you get this right, you’ll have the retirement of your dreams.
You’ll be able to spend the time you want with family, give your grandkids the best gifts, and take those extra long vacations you never could during your working years.
But, if you get this wrong, you’ll be like many current retirees: stressed out, trying to find a part-time job to supplement income or be forced to move back in with your children.
As financial planners, we see the results of good and bad choices all the time.
Beyond the financial matters, there are a few big changes that many people experience when entering retirement that are not often thought about.
You may think I’m crazy, but from our experience and research, after about 9-18 months post retirement, some new questions start to surface.
What am I here to do?
What will I do with all this time?
What is most important for me to do now that money and a job are not holding me back?
The reality is that you may spend 20-40 years in retirement. This may be longer than your actual working career!
The question is this…if you could have your ideal retirement scenario, what would it look like?
What we’ve found is that by addressing 5 key areas, your retirement can be much more fulfilling.
The areas are:
- Sense of purpose.
- Status or role in society.
- Time management.
- Social life.
As noted here, having your financial life taken care of is at the top of the list for most people.
But, the ones that have the most fulfilling retirements take these other areas just as seriously.
After speaking to many pre-retirees lately with 6 and 7 figure portfolios, I’ve seen some concerning trends.
These trends were common regardless whether they were working with a financial advisor or not.
The trends were:
- Worrying about having enough money to retire.
- Not knowing their income replacement ratio.
- No time spent organizing precious documents.
- No real understanding of what their investment plan was designed to do for them.
- No time taken to design a life plan that aligns with values, capabilities and purpose.
This is simply unacceptable in my book.
A REAL advisor would have these areas taken care of in the first 6-9 months of working together. Maybe even the first 90 days!
A real advisor would not only advise you on investments but would be your coach to help you see what’s coming around the corner and be prepared to face retirement proactively.
A real advisor would sit on the same side of the table with you, with a fiduciary responsibility to give you advice in your best interest at ALL TIMES.
If you’re in a place where it’s time to take a serious look at retirement planning, to take a deep dive into what your encore career could look like, and to go into this next stage with confidence in your financial situation.. then here’s what I have for you.
I keep some time on the calendar during the week to speak to people personally about what we’ve discussed here.
When we get on the phone, we'll chat for about 45 minutes.
During this time, I’ll help you get complete clarity about your current retirement readiness, we’ll discover what’s most important to you in this stage of life, and if we can help you get there we’ll let you know. If not, we’ll direct you to some great resources that can. Does that sound fair?
You can book your appointment here at kisplanning.com/apply.
Book your call now. Don’t put this off any longer. This 45-minutes could be the best thing you do for yourself before retirement.
Once you book your appointment, you’ll receive a short follow-up questionnaire with a few basic questions on it that will help us maximize our time together on our call.
Looking forward to speaking with you soon.
